City wants to hand out more food stamps

Council is scheduled to consider on Wednesday spending $160,000 so more Houstonians can receive food stamps. Expect Councilwoman Helena Brown to vote against the item that would hire three outreach workers at the Houston Food Bank to connect more people to federal benefits, officially called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.
